The Challenge:
In the run up to the Beijing Olympics, a BBC film crew were going to film in China. They required a legal document – a legal waiver – to be translated into Mandarin (Simplified) Chinese so it could be understood by those being filmed, who would then be able to sign the necessary waiver.
Our Approach:
The translation was carried out by a translator who had the necessary legal background for this text. The translation was checked over by a proofreader to ensure that there were no errors in the translation. Again the proofreader selected was a legal specialist.
The Result:
The BBC crew took the translation with them to China and were happy with the results. The translation was entirely suitable for purpose.
