The Challenge:
Cardonald College was hosting a group of academics from Syria visiting Glasgow as part of a joint project with a partner in Syria. We were asked to provide an Arabic interpreter to work closely with the group for a week of activities and also to translate some materials from English into Arabic for their use.
Our Approach:
We liaised closely with the client to make sure we had a firm understanding of what was required for the participants during their tour, presentations and workshops at the College. This allowed us to provide our interpreter with information and materials about the course in advance to enable him to prepare effectively for the sessions in which he would be helping the Syrian delegates understand the detail of the course. For the Arabic translations we carefully selected a translator with a background in translating similar materials for educational institutions in the UK.
The Result:
Cardonald College were delighted with our services both in terms of the translation we provided and also regarding the experienced academic interpreter who attended the college during the week-long event. This has resulted in us being used by the client on an ongoing basis for similar projects.
