The Challenge:
The client wanted to produce a detailed information guide to living and working in Glasgow for migrant workers coming to work in Glasgow from EU accession countries like Poland and Slovakia. Although they had already commissioned a copy writer to produce the English text, they did not have a design for the final printed version and were interested in commissioning us to design and typeset the English version as well as the translated versions.

Our Approach:
Our work began when we received the final English text from the client. It was clear that the project would result in a substantial publication that would best be presented in a booklet format and would require photographs to be acquired for use in the booklet. While the design was being worked on by our consultant designer and proofs were approved by the client, we began working on the translation. It required a good general translator to be appointed because although no part of the text was technically difficult, there were a large range of subject matters that we would need our translators and proofreaders to be familiar with including shopping, public transport, employment, schools, health, leisure and entertainment and local government. Once the text was translated and proofread the text was typeset into the approved design and then printed in the quantities requested by the client.

The Result:
We produced a professional-looking, glossy booklet of some 80 pages in both languages required by the client and had them printed in the quantities they required.
