The Challenge:
URBACT is a European Programme, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which aims to foster the exchange of experience among European cities and the capitalisation-dissemination of knowledge on all issues related to sustainable urban development. There was a conference being held in Glasgow with delegates from France and the conference organisers requested we supply interpreting services.
Our Approach:
We began by discussing the client’s requirements with them in some detail. This was a very necesssary preliminary step. It became apparent that the French delegates planned to bring their own interpreters with them from France for the conference. However, the conference organisers still required us to provide interpreting equipment to the conference venue.
The Result:
We organised the provision of interpreting booths and audio equipment to the conference to enable the visiting group’s interpreters to carry out their work. This project showed our flexibility in meeting the client’s requirements since in the end the services of our interpreters were not required, but we still met client requirements through providing equipment which is not usually done separately from the interpreters we provide to use the equipment.
